Monday Homely Happenings

I have stolen away for a few quiet moments to write this post...
With a delicious almond and berry muffin from baking last night and a cup of decadent cappuccino...

Smiling as I hear the kids are happily playing some jungle game in their room, every now and then I hear a "roar" or a "caw-caw" coming from down the passage...

It has been drizzling on and off yesterday and this morning. I love that fresh, wet earth smell, when everything smells just as it should. The air thick with the scent of lavender, earth and wet grass. I pottered outside after a small drizzle to take some photo's of my garden. I can see the change from my summer garden as it slowly transforms into winter. All the plectranthus are blooming nicely. I have white and pink in my garden. They are a Autumn/winter flowering plant.

Today I also had to drain the pool. The kids actually haven't swam for a few weeks now, even though at times it is still about 30 to 34 degrees celcious during the day!
It always saddens me to do this, as it is saying goodbye to summer and realizing winter is definitely right around the corner.

In my pottering outside, I see my lavender is still going, I cut them all back a few weeks ago and I see new buds appearing, so it appears I will have some more for a while. {See if you can spot the Praying mantis!}

camera in hand...some more exploring in our garden, I see our little garden spiders are still enjoying their happy little homes. We have three that have been in their same spots for a few months now. I actually quite enjoy having them there! They are totally harmless.

It's been a tiring day but a satisfactory day. You know one of those days when you've cleaned the house, stripped the beds and put new, fresh, crisp linen on; cleaned the floors and hung out the washing to dry. Simple little things like these that give me a good feeling and of course seeing some fresh pale pink roses bought from the flower market today made me smile...

Well supper is almost ready and the cupcakes have to go in next. I had to bake 24 cupcakes for my kids to take to school tomorrow as it is cake sale day.

Lot's of icing and decorating to do tonight!
Simple little things of everyday life...
happy little things that are ♥comfy, cozy and homely.♥

Hi Bonnie.
Hope you enjoyed icing those cupcakes. Kaitlin was so excited this morning. I love your pic of the praying mantis on the lavender. So pretty.

Hi Bonnie! Yes it is me (don't fall over!). My interent has been so erratic that I haven't been around blogland lately. I've so enjoyed catching up your blog today. (Hope the ADSL holds out for me!) (Telkom promised a week ago they were coming out 'tomorrow' - still waiting!!) Today my modem is behaving.
I loved this post. Your pictures make me feel all warm and fizzy inside- makes me want to grab the broom, clean, & pick some flowers! Beautiful photos- they belong in a magazine- really!!
I just read your 'caravan' post. Would you believe, I recently bought the magazine and the minute I saw the caravan re-do on the cover, I thought of you as I remembered your caravan blogpost.
I thought the revamp you already did was so cute, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next time! Have a great weekend!
Vxx
PS: Will be blogging again soon - I've been doing an amazing online drawing course which you'll love! (It's taking longer than expected due to my internet!!) Take a peek here: (You need to start with "Supplies me". It really helps to do this one first- I did the "I heart drawing" first and she refers to "Supplies Me" so much that I went backwards & am busy with that now. End April she starts a gorgeous class on drawing fairies, animals & other mythical creatures - I can't wait!!! She does tons of mixed media & shows you exactly how to draw faces & figures out your head - you will LOVE it!!!
