An early Spring Garden.

Another week and it is officially spring!
Today was a glorious "Spring" day.
I am so happy the weather is getting warmer.

Here in the Cape of South Africa, the best month's are April and September. April is the start of Autumn and September the start of Spring. Both are cool but not too cold, warm but not too hot and both month's seem to be the month's with the least amount of wind. Days are calm, sunny and wind-free. Just "perfect".
Summer here is always dreadfully hot and so very windy. It's the wind I dislike, as it is not your gentle blow-in-the-breeze wind, but rather a gusty, full-blown wind that makes it really unpleasant.

So for now, I am going to enjoy the next month or two of "just right" weather.

My garden is unfolding her secrets and I am so excited that my first Daffodil finally blossomed! I planted these bulbs back in mid April, and now, 4 months later they are finally blooming, just in time for Spring! It was my first time to plant bulbs and I am so happy some of them grew. Of the 10 I planted, 6 made it. Not too bad!

I watched anxiously as last week Saturday I saw the first flower bud...

3 days later, it was beginning to open...

And then finally Thursday it opened in full bloom!

Sweet peas...
They are growing very nicely now, but no sign of any buds yet...

My Lavender is in full bloom...

plenty of these and they self seeded, have tiny babies of them coming up all over! They love shade. Not sure of the name. Anyone know?

One of the things I love most about spring, are the birds. So many are appearing now in the garden and I put bread crumbs out for them to encourage their chirpy, happy visits!

The bottom photo is of a baby with it's mommy, she was feeding it seeds. So sweet.

I hope you are all have a good weekend!
Thanks for popping by.

I think that bud that's coming out that you wanted to know the name of, is a monbretia. My garden is full of the beautiful orange flowers they have!
